Month by Month Honeymoon Guide

Are you looking to plan your dream honeymoon and don’t know where to start? You are not sure when to go or where to go? Check out our month-by-month guide to some of the best honeymoon destinations and hotels around the world!


January – Caribbean

Although the temperature is slightly cooler, the dry season means you’ll see less rain and more sunny blue skies in January. Head to the Caribbean for gorgeous beaches, warm hospitality and a distinct laid-back vibe.


From the 365 beaches of Antigua, the intriguing and colourful heritage of Havana in Cuba, and the lush forests and pretty waterfalls in St Lucia, there is a perfect island to suit every honeymoon couple.

February – Mexico

You’ll get lots of sun if you’re heading to Mexico in January, which is in the country’s dry season.


The lively resorts of Cancun and Playa Del Carmen offer magnificent beachfront resorts and great nightlife, the laid-back town of Tulum is the spot for exploring the historical sites and cenotes, or for something more peaceful head to the quaint island of Isla Mujeres.

February - Costa Rica

February is a great time to visit Costa Rica with the weather hot and dry in the most popular beach destinations.


There are so many amazing things to do in this country to make your honeymoon a once in a lifetime trip! You can hike a volcano in Arenal, go white water rafting on the River Pacuare, go ziplining in the Monteverde Cloud Forests or view the turtles nesting in Tortuguero.

March – Vietnam

In spring, March and April have the lowest rainfall across all destinations in Vietnam, although it is important to note that the climates vary massively across this country, so the best time to visit depends on where you want to go! The beaches in the South are hot and dry during March.


A great place to start your adventure is Vietnam’s capital Hanoi, gateway to the World Heritage Site of Halong Bay and home to atmospheric temples and a lively Old Quarter. Head to the sun-kissed south for dreamy beaches such as Phu Quoc Island and the bright lights of Ho Chi Minh City.

April - USA Road Trip

A great American road trip is something everyone should experience – so why not try it for your honeymoon? Driving along Route 66 with the car roof down, or along the Pacific Coast Highway in California - hire a convertible or do the trip in your very own motorhome!


Cruise down the Big Sur coast from San Francisco to LA, stopping off in Carmel, Montery and Santa Barbara for some wine tasting, then head through the desert to finish off in Las Vegas. Head to amazing landscapes such as Death Valley or Yosemite National Park, or experience Orlando before cruising down the Atlantic Coast to Miami.

June – Santorini, Greece

June is a great time to visit Greece before the crowds of July and August, and the island of Santorini is an ideal place for a romantic honeymoon. What more could you ask for with white-washed houses clinging to the cliffs, bright bursts of bougainvillea and the most magical sunsets!


Opt for accommodation with your own plunge pool overlooking the magnificent views, or if you want a bit of adventure explore the island and black sand beaches on your own quad bike.

July – Indonesia

Lombok and Flores are prefect if you are looking for something a bit less developed, or head to Bali for vibrant nightlife, colourful coral reefs and luxury resorts.

August – Seychelles

September – Italy

July and August can get really hot and busy throughout Italy, so going a bit later in September means you should still get lovely weather, but hopefully with less crowds!


The Amalfi coast is an amazing romantic destination for a honeymoon – from the picture-perfect towns of Positano and Amalfi, to Sorrento or the island of Capri. You can chose a base for throughout and visit all these places, or stay in a few of them so you can soak up the atmosphere in the evenings!


The Cinque Terre region, the Italian lakes or the rolling hills of Tuscany are also great honeymoon destinations, all of which you could combine with a few days in a city such as Florence, Rome or Venice.

October – Mauritius

Mauritius enjoys warm weather all year, however October is a great time to visit for sunnier and drier days. A beach lover’s dream, this palm-fringed island has tranquil beaches and crystal lagoons, with dramatic volcanic backdrops.


If you can pull yourself away from the beaches, inland you will find a paradise of lush hills, valleys and colourful villages. Don’t miss a visit to Black River Gorges National Park if you love the outdoors - there are a number of hiking trails and it’s the ideal opportunity to see panoramic views of the landscape, including waterfalls, gorges and peaks.

October - South Africa

The winter dry season in Southern Africa is between May and October and this is when game viewing is at its best, especially in the hotter, drier months at the end of the season. A trip to Africa will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime!


Witness the Great Annual Migration in Tanzania for an experience you will never forget, take a drive along the scenic Garden Route in South Africa, or spot wildlife from the clouds with a sunrise hot air balloon over the Maasai Mara.

The Maldives is warm year-round, however the wet season from April to October means there is a lot more rain during these months. The weather is better in November, but this month is less expensive than going in the peak months of February and March.

Head south to the islands for pristine white beaches and sleepy islands like Koh Lanta, or head north for the misty mountains where you can trek with the hill tribes of Chiang Mai.
